Kat Young is a British photographer based on an island in the Thames. Her work is a mixture of portrait and reportage photography and is made up of commissioned and personal projects that focus on people and their social and cultural identity. She is particularly interested in the themes of memory, childhood, family and community and of the river where she lives.
Kat works as an artist educator for a variety of community organisations running art programmes for young people. She also shoots children’s portraits commercially under the name Paper Photo.
Kat was educated at The Surrey Institute of Art and Design and Kingston School of Art.
